a wedding // emily + scott

working on weddings like this, with brides like emily, is why i love what i do so much. this beautiful event seemed to come together effortlessly and full of laughter. the bride, being an artist, used her own paintings to inspire the design and feel of her wedding. this lovely wedding is featured on style me pretty today so head over there for more photos and complete vendor listing.
oh, and this has got to be one of my all time favorite bouquets!

marigolds and tiny tomatoes

the scent of marigolds brings me back to my younger years, when i used to walk through the neighborhoods with my mom and sisters and we would take the seeds from the spent flowers and spread them with the wind. i like to think that some of those seeds have traveled deep and wide, to exotic places and maybe even up to oregon where i now live. i made this piece the other week, inspired by the tiny tomatoes on the vine and the nostalgic smell of the marigold.

a wedding // amanda + daniel

amanda and daniel wed at camp lane in the oregon coast forest. amanda and i shared only a few emails back and forth to plan her wedding flowers... and yet her bouquet turned out to be my favorite of all the bouquet's i did this summer (love easy brides!). alison may really killed it with the photos, her style matching the dark and moody surroundings of the october forest.

a caramel apple party

no season excites me the way fall does.  i love the crispness of the air, the changing of the leaves and the distant sound of parents and coaches cheering at the soccer games.  i embrace the season fully, buying pumpkin after pumpkin, lighting all the candles in the house and baking.  the house smells of nutmeg, cinnamon and apples.  one of my favorite things to do during the fall season is make caramel apples.  i've been doing it for years now.  this year i invited my sisters and a few girl friends over.  we drank homemade apple cider spiked with whiskey and laughed while decorating our apples with caramel and other toppings.  here's to fall!
to make the caramel sauce, i just melted down tiny squares of caramel(unwrapping the caramels takes forever...it's nice to have a friend or sister or both help) and stirred in a little cream.
