lets all wear flowers // in the hair

this week we are making a floral crown, one that i wore to a party the other day. the floral crown is a little more challenging than some of the other body flower pieces, but still totally manageable, just a little more time is required. i used spray roses, rannunculus and lisianthus in the floral crown cause they hold up really well out of water, i also put a few anemones in there for dramatic flair and used wax flower and andromedia as my filler flowers. first you want to cut all your stems and wire your flowers, using the hairpin method. then take a length of wire (however big you want your crown to be) and make a loop on both ends. then start putting together little groupings of flowers and tape them together using floral tape. once you have your little groupings of flowers tapped together, then you can start tapping them onto your long wire. just do a little bit at a time until you have covered the length of your wire in flowers.
keep your stems real short, using each new bundle of flowers to cover the previous added flower stems and tape.
thread your ribbon through your little loops you made on each end of your wire and then tape on your last grouping of flowers with stems facing the opposite way you had been placing them to cover up the last of your stems, wire and tape. your crown is now complete and can be tied onto your head.

lets all wear flowers // flower tattoo

i like to call this one the flower tattoo...it's super easy to make and it will last all day (or night). you will need a band-aide (i like using the clear ones so they don't show at all), some glue (i used regular old elmers here, but i would suggest a floral glue, it is stronger and dries a lot quicker), and a flower. i went out back and picked this lovely rose, and cut the stem and back off. i then glued the rose to the non-sticky side of the band-aid. once it is dry you can stick the band-aide flower on your body! i'd also recommend cleaning the skin with some rubbing alcohol before attaching the band-aid, this will help it to stick all day long. this is one of my favorites! hope you like it too!

lets all wear flowers // around the finger

today we are making a simple rose ring. this beauty makes a big statement with out much effort at all! i just went out back and picked a few roses growing in the yard. then i cut the stem and the back of the rose off, you want to cut it as close to the rose as possible so it lays close to your skin. then stick some wire through the backside of the rose and wrap it around your finger. cut off the remaining wire and tuck it back up under the flower so it doesn't poke you. just like that you have a beautiful flower ring!
ellie just had to get up in the mix...i'd say she was a fan of the rose ring.

lets all wear flowers // around the wrist

today i am going to show you how to  make a floral bracelet. i used rannunculus as my main flower and then used some mock orange blooms and a few dusty miller and fern leaves as little accents. start by cutting your stems super short and then arrange the flowers, putting the main flower in the middle and using your accent flowers to fill in, then use floral tape to tape it all together. then take a piece of ribbon and cut a whole in the middle, large enough for the short stems of you little floral posey to fit through. put the taped flower ends through your whole and then take some floral glue and glue around the whole on the backside of your bracelet, this will keep the flowers from falling through the whole. once the glue has dried you can tie it on! i would wear this one out dancing...gotta show it off! ;)

lets all wear flowers // in the hair

are you ready for another super easy way to wear flowers in your hair!? all you need are a few hand picked blooms, some bobby pins and a friend. just go out and pick a beautiful blooming flower from the yard, here i used mock orange, and pull off a few blooms and have a friend bobby pin them into your hair. i love how easy and casual this look is...and easy, did i mention how easy it is!?
now go find a forest of trees to run around in!

let's all wear flowers // around the neck

this week we are going to make a super simple spray rose necklace. i used a beautiful spray rose called "majolica". to make the necklace all you need to do is clip the rose off the stem, leaving very little stem on the rose, then take a needle and thread the roses together. i then just fit the flower necklace to the length i wanted it, cut the thread and tied the necklace on. this necklace held up so well, i was able to wear it a few days in a row, and got tons of compliments on it!

let's all wear flowers // in the hair

this week i made a simple hair clip using rannunculus and privit berries. again, the idea here was to create something simple and beautiful that can be worn out day or night. first step is to trim off your floral stems, i then wired the rannunculus, using a hairpin method, placing the wire through the  bottom center of the flower, then bending the wire back through the top to create a loop so the wire doesn't pull through the flower. i then wrapped the wired flowers and some privit berry stems together using floral tape. the floral piece can now be bobby pinned into your hair.

let's all wear flowers // in the hair

acacia is one of my favorite early spring flowers. i decided to wear it in my hair in the most simple way imaginable...i just tucked pieces of it into my braid. almost any flower can be worn this way. just pull small pieces off, keeping your stems a medium length, and stick them through your braid... wallah! just like that, you are wearing flowers in your hair!
