let's all wear flowers // around the neck

this week we are going to make a super simple spray rose necklace. i used a beautiful spray rose called "majolica". to make the necklace all you need to do is clip the rose off the stem, leaving very little stem on the rose, then take a needle and thread the roses together. i then just fit the flower necklace to the length i wanted it, cut the thread and tied the necklace on. this necklace held up so well, i was able to wear it a few days in a row, and got tons of compliments on it!

in my home // plants

i am a flower girl for sure, but i am also a plant lover, i guess i get it from my mom. every room in her house is over flowing with plants, most of which are cuts and clippings she is trying to propagate. my dad hates it, but he has learned to deal. i've just moved back in with my parents, divorce will make you do things you never thought you'd do (like move back in with your parents AGAIN). but here i am, grateful that i have loving arms to welcome me. my own collection of house plants have been divided among my siblings as it would be outrageous to add my collection to my moms. these are a few of my beauties that i am missing today... trusting that my sisters take good care of them.

let's all wear flowers // in the hair

this week i made a simple hair clip using rannunculus and privit berries. again, the idea here was to create something simple and beautiful that can be worn out day or night. first step is to trim off your floral stems, i then wired the rannunculus, using a hairpin method, placing the wire through the  bottom center of the flower, then bending the wire back through the top to create a loop so the wire doesn't pull through the flower. i then wrapped the wired flowers and some privit berry stems together using floral tape. the floral piece can now be bobby pinned into your hair.

let's all wear flowers // in the hair

acacia is one of my favorite early spring flowers. i decided to wear it in my hair in the most simple way imaginable...i just tucked pieces of it into my braid. almost any flower can be worn this way. just pull small pieces off, keeping your stems a medium length, and stick them through your braid... wallah! just like that, you are wearing flowers in your hair!

let's all wear flowers // intro

i am going to be starting a new weekly blog series called "let's all wear flowers". the idea is to get more people to daily wear flowers.  big fancy floral crowns are perfect for a wedding, but what about everyday!? well i will be showing you ways to, simply, wear flowers...be it around your neck, on your wrist or in your hair! i hope you join me!

spring flowers

i picked all these flowers (except for the rannunculus) from my sisters yard a couple weeks ago. i'm jealous of her yard, but she does let me come and pick whatever i want as long as i make a little something for her, so i can't complain. the rannunculus are from a farm not far away, they have the most beautiful rannunculus around. more of this beauty coming soon!

a wedding // amanda + daniel

amanda and daniel wed at camp lane in the oregon coast forest. amanda and i shared only a few emails back and forth to plan her wedding flowers... and yet her bouquet turned out to be my favorite of all the bouquet's i did this summer (love easy brides!). alison may really killed it with the photos, her style matching the dark and moody surroundings of the october forest.

a wedding // melissa + reilly

there are tons of fun and noteworthy details in this woodland, honey bee wedding. melissa was such a fun bride to work with...and boy did she have a great vision for her special day, from jars of local honey given to each guest, to the super adorable centerpieces made by her dad, to the beautiful flower crown she wore, melissa really got the wedding of her dreams. i'm so glad that i got to be a part of it.
bouquets made of billy balls, dahlias, succulents, calendula and scabiosa. love the yellow, grey and orange all mixed together.
